Ketubah Description

View Ketubah Details

Stylized flowers and birds in pure bright colors are with the seven agricultural species of Jewish tradition: dates, grapes, pomegranates, olives, figs, barley and wheat. A contrasting chuppah and kiddush cup at the bottom symbolize the wedding ceremony and a crown and hamsa symbol are added at the top for good luck. Surrounding the whole is a verse from the Seven Blessings.

Celia Lemonik is a Long Island, NY-based calligrapher and graphic designer who has been creating original one-of-a-kind ketubot since the 1970's. Her work explores the inherently decorative nature of the Hebrew alphabet and her use of bold color, symmetry and rhythm reflects the sensibilities of many different folk art traditions.
